About Itai Ben-Gal
Itai holds degrees in both Management Information Systems (MIS) and Management from the University of Michigan, where he founded his first company, Cube Systems, an IT service provider. In 2004, Itai joined Cognitens, Inc. as an IT Manager and Application Engineer. Following Cognitens’ acquisition by Hexagon Metrology, Itai joined Perceptron, Inc. (NASDAQ:PRCP) and focused on the implementation of large-scale, laser-based computerized measurement systems. While at Perceptron, Itai implemented innovative distributed measurement solutions.
Itai has always had a love for movies and home theater. In 2003, the journey began to build his home theater after a local home theater club meet. After years of learning and assisting others with their own theaters, Itai designed and built his own home theater. The theater incorporates several unique solutions, earning him a feature in the DVD series “Home Theaters Revealed”.
Following the completion of his theater, Itai was dissatisfied with existing control systems and began researching new solutions. After discussing with his friend Victor the “Internet in the living room”, cloud computing, and smartphone and tablet platforms, iRule was founded.
Itai is a board member of the Consumer Electronics Association TechHome Division.

Later, Victor joined Cognitens, Ltd., where he developed applications for 3D vision measurement systems. Four years later Victor was promoted to a team leader and sent to Michigan to lead highly customized software engineering solutions for Cognitens’ customers. Following Cognitens’ acquisition by Hexagon Metrology, Victor led the design and development of robotic automated solutions. About Samer Yousif
iRule’s first Canadian!
Currently living in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I graduated from the University of Windsor, with two degrees. I have a Bachelors of General Science and a Bachelors of Computer Science. I have worked as a Software Engineer in the United States since 2011, experienced in developing with Java.
I started at iRule in March of 2015 as a Software Engineer, responsibilities yet unknown.
I enjoy playing video games, watching movies, gym, and being active, contradicting – I know. I love to eat, I do not bring lunch due to border hassles, so please ask me to lunch.
About Robert Tanniru
I was born in Syracuse, NY, attended high school (RHS) and college (U of M) in Michigan, worked in Seattle, played poker in Vegas, and attended grad school (Oakland and Wayne State) back in Michigan.
I started at iRule in April of 2015 and am loving every minute of it (That’s how you know I’m still new).
Ask me about Ultimate Frisbee, Hearthstone, my math paper on Grafting Numbers, my unbeatable poker strategy, or my newest mobile app idea.
About Matthew Mancour
As a military “brat” I was raised around the globe truly embracing the many different nations and its people. However, that comes with a price — not experiencing my own family roots and culture. Right here in Detroit, MI.
Before making the move to Ann Arbor, I spent many years working in the film industry, including extra work in television and film, as well as a short stint at the Nevada Film Office, in my hometown of Las Vegas.
My passion for film/television, and the audio/visual facets one cannot ignore, is enormous. I also love golf (although I don’t play enough for it to show), fishing, business, history, fun facts and playing the drums. There is room for beer, Bourbon and Scotch whiskey as well.
I earned a BBA with a concentration in management and entrepreneurship from Eastern Michigan University and have won numerous awards for collegiate video production and storytelling from the Michigan Press Association. I still need a photo for my IMDB page…yikes!
About Cesar Carrasco
Born and raised in Southern California. I met and married my wife while I was station in the U.K. for Active Duty (USAF). I then moved to Redmond, WA where I completed my B.S. in Computer Engineering at DigiPen Institute of Technology. I now reside in the boonies of Burlington, VT with my wife.
I am “Jack of all, master of none” from low-level hardware design up through high-level software engineering. In general, I enjoy working on cool, useful projects (like my remote cat feeder that is tied to my home surveillance system!) and some unuseful projects (like my Android apps that I will not mention!).
I started at iRule in April 2015, working on some crazy weird stuff that will blow your mind!
Director of Control
About Jeff Skalny
I grew up in Sterling Heights, MI and currently reside in a Waterford, MI home that I am renovating with the intention of selling. I have collected a number of certifications over the years, including CPhT, MCSE, CTS, and PADI Ice Diver. I can best be summarized by the following quote: “I do it because I can. I can because I want to. I want to because you believe I can’t.” – Unknown. I wrote my first lines of code when I was 11, I built my first computer when I was 14, my first modem worked at a maximum of 300 baud, and I used floppy disks, but I have never played any games against a WOPR named Joshua. I have been in the home automation business for over 14 years and more recently I have been focused on commercial A/V automation projects.
About Jeremiah Cunningham
I have a conflicted inner personality. I study all forms of computer programming and mathematics and I contrast this with an unquenchable thirst for exploration of the outdoors. I started developing for graphing calculators in elementary school and by high school I was coding in quite a few languages, on windows and linux, and learning about the myriad of design patterns and implementation techniques up-and-coming in the software community.
On the other side, I reside in Whitmore Lake, MI and I spend a lot of time wandering through the forests of the midwest with my dog, canoeing and camping in new places, and rock climbing in the mountains. I love getting away from technology just as much as I love advancing it.
